Thyroid disorders

– Symptoms;
– Treatments;
– Advice.

The thyroid is an endocrine gland located at the front and lower part of the neck. It consists of two lobes joined by an isthmus (a narrowed part of an organ), made up of vesicles filled with a viscous substance containing thyroglobulin, from which thyroid hormones are derived.

This new edition describes:
The thyroid, a small endocrine gland located at the front and lower part of the neck, has a vital function because it influences the regulation of the hormonal system, growth, metabolism, and the nervous system. Disorders (hypo- or hyperthyroidism, tumor, goiter) linked to its malfunction or insufficient secretion affect daily life: fatigue, memory issues, mood swings, depression, reduced libido, dry skin and hair, weight gain or loss, etc. Very often, gland disorders are not diagnosed, and it is essential to correctly identify the signs and symptoms resulting from these thyroid dysfunctions. Unfortunately, very many of us are affected by thyroid disease. Some endocrinologists cite a figure of 40% of the population. They mainly affect young women, particularly during pregnancy or menopause. This informative book explains not only how the thyroid gland works, its main disorders and their causes, but also the tests to be carried out, known treatments and their limits. The appendices address the dangers of radioactivity.
Dr Willem shares here his observations and the treatments he knows, whose benefits he has been able to observe in many patients.

    Super, je le conseille à toutes les personnes qui ont des problèmes de thyroïde. Si j’avais lu ce livre avant, je pense que j’aurais abordé ma pathologie d’hyperthyroïdie différemment.
