An enzyme is a molecule, most often a protein produced by cells, whose role is to accelerate the biochemical reactions of the human body millions of times. Without enzymes, these chemical reactions would take a much longer time (a one-second reaction with an enzyme would take twelve days without it), and life would simply be impossible.

With the unique ability to bind to a substance to perform a transformation and then detach to repeat the same operation elsewhere, enzymes ensure all dynamic processes of life and guarantee the continuity of all our vital functions.

Tens of thousands of enzymes are thus active in our body; they are necessary to digest food, stimulate the brain, provide cellular energy, and drain all tissues, organs, and cells.

Enzymes are essential, as they are indispensable for almost all chemical reactions in the human body.

They act in very small quantities. One enzyme molecule transforms a few hundred to a few million substrate molecules per minute. They remain intact at the end of the reactions.

Enzymes are specific: they catalyze only one type of reaction (action specificity). Enzymes are numerous: more than 2,500 have already been identified, but undoubtedly many more remain to be discovered.
