The main uses of flaxseed oil stem from its richness in polyunsaturated fatty acids (about 70%), especially linolenic and linoleic acids, from which it takes its name. Flaxseed oil is one of the few plant sources of omega-3. It is by far the richest in ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are then synthesized in the body.
